THE biggest brothel in the Southern Hemisphere has sold for a whopping $8.85 million, with former management claiming they’ll celebrate the sale by rewarding their call girls by whisking them away to Fiji for a long holiday.
The claim was made on The Daily Planet’s website, promoting the infamous Melbourne venue.
The brothel, named after the newspaper in comic book strip Superman, was an elite 18-room bordello in Elsternwick, in inner Melbourne.
The building was sold after the company went into receivership in July.
Buyers were promised a “luxurious, prestigious and utterly unforgettable” venue, which they claim Playboy said was “one of the best brothels they had ever visited”.
The Daily Planet said the Playboy Mansion is the only place that could rival the “exquisite yet refreshingly playful feel” of the brothel.
Inside are mirrored rooms with spa baths and beds, where “your deepest and most sought-after desires” will be met.
Some of the rooms are fitted with showers that fit up to four people and eight-seater spas.
The building had been on the market for about four months after the illustrious bordello went into receivership. It was sold at a mortgagee auction on the weekend, fetching $8.85 million, a price much higher than expected.
The Australian Financial Review said it was bought by an unnamed buyer with offshore ties.
The developer also bought neighbouring commercial buildings for $1.9 million each, one of which was also owned by Daily Planet founder and strip club owner John Trimble.
It is believed the three buildings will become a mixed-use apartment development.
The Daily Planet was the first brothel in the world to become a publicly listed company on the Australian Stock Exchange, but it was delisted in March.

It was also voted the Best Brothel in Australia 18 times at the Australian Adult Industry Awards.
The brothel aimed to attract clients with fat wallets, with call girls and escorts who travel with their client costing $500 an hour and up to $4000 a night.
Girls based at the Daily Planet cost $245 for 30 minutes and $330 for an hour.
The notorious bordello was once accused of having a secret door, and a raid in 2009 found there were extra beds for 20 sex workers in a building next door.
The Herald Sun reported a wall was smashed and a door was built between the brothel and neighbouring building.
A sex worker was also accused of stealing a $1.5 million watch from a client and stashing it under a mattress.

Mr Trimble, who founded the Daily Planet brothel in the 70s, is the nephew of dead Calabrian mafia boss Robert Trimbole.
Trimbole was allegedly involved in the 1977 disappearance of anti-marijuana campaigner Donald Mackay in Griffith in the NSW Riverina region.
It is believed Mr Mackay was shot in a carpark of the Griffith Hotel and dumped in Hay about 150 kilometres away. There is no suggestion that Mr Trimble was involved in Mackay’s disappearance. Mr Trimble changed his name from Trimbole.
An anonymous sex worker revealed on Reddit she would look after about three clients on a weeknight at Daily Planet and 10 on a weekend. Only 50 per cent however wanted sex, with others simply requesting cuddles and the “girlfriend experience”.
“Lots of cuddles, affection — like you’re hanging with the girl next door,” she said.
“I try to treat every client as if they’re a friend or lover. The human aspect is more important than the sex aspect for most clients.”
The Daily Planet, which was put up for sale by administrators, has remained open since the auction.
